"Sucks" doesn't suck

This may seem obvious, but a judge as ruled that there is no likelihood of confusion between a corporate website (say, walmart.com) and a "sucks" website (i.e., walmartsucks).

The muscle without the tussle

Legally, I can't tell you why I won't be posting for the next couple of weeks, but I can say that I may be in the kick Billy Mays' ass camp when it's all over.

What's it all about, Wired?

Wired details exactly what the Domestic Security Enhancement Act is designed to do. John Ashcroft says that not supporting it means you're un-American. (Okay, he didn't really, but he implied it!)

Good message, bad words

Parents, school officials and librarians are debating whether positive messages in a book outweigh an author's use of profanity and violence.

Maybe they did know what was inside

A suspicious package sent to John Ashcroft was destroyed by the DC bomb squad. As it turned out, the contents were nothing but porn.

One who has bought THE EYE!

The Information Awareness Office took down its fabulous logo from its web site, but now Cafe Press has a variety of products available with that vaguely Illuminati-looking graphic plastered on them. My favorite item is the IAO lunchbox.

Domestic Security Enhancement Act

John Ashcroft really wants to be your Big Brother. The Justice Department is proposing an extention of the USA PATRIOT Act, called the Domestic Security Enhancement Act. If enacted, the FBI will received even greater surveillance powers. Also, the law would prevent any judicial challenges to these powers.

You've seen this article on libraries and the USA PATRIOT Act linked everywhere. Now you can see it linked at L.A.C.K.

What is this fair use you speak of?

Jack Valenti apparently doesn't realize that fair use is regulated by the US Code, as LibraryPlanet.com points out.

No more swearing to do anything!

The Russian Parliament has banned rude words from political discourse. Apparently, Vladimir Putin curses like a sailor.
